Customer Service, Return & Repair Policy, Warranty

This is our eighth blog in our series to more fully understand a Murphy Wallbed manufacturer’s return and repair policies, warranty and their Customer Service policies.

Inspecting Your Space Saving Beds

Upon first receipt of your bed, it is highly important to fully inspect the package for any damage. In most cases, any damage claims can only be made if discovery of the damage was noted with the delivery personnel present. Because of this, you will want to make sure that you thoroughly inspect the packaging and the Murphy bed itself to ensure that there is no damage.

Delivery

You will be advised to fully inspect the delivery packaging for visual cosmetic or product damage in the presence of the delivery courier. Some manufacturers insist that damage claims can only be made if the delivery carrier confirmed the discovery of the damage and noted this on the shipping documents. After you have called the manufacturer to notify them of damage to the shipping materials, they will advise you on next steps and their Customer Service procedures.

Assembly and Installation

Installation of a Murphy wall bed is simple, and can be done using normal household tools. A DVD, CD or printed instructions are provided and you can budget on 2-3 hours for the DYI installation of a complete bed unit. If you are local or reside within a certain radius of your Murphy wall bed manufacturer, you will get professional installation by the manufacturer. Some manufacturers offer phone support to troubleshoot any issues you may experience during installation.

Warranty

Typically manufacturers provide a Lifetime Warranty on Spring-operated mechanism while Piston Mechanisms have a multi year warranty. There is also a limited warranty on all cabinetry, foundations, and bedding. Most offer a warranty on the bedding, frame, and cabinetry against defects in material and/or workmanship. Some manufacturer warranties are for one year free of material or workmanship defects, repair or replacement of any defective parts, assuming proper installation following the provided instructions. Typically a manufacturer’s warranty does not cover damage due to improper use or incorrect use.

Return Policies and Return Time Frame

If your delivery has damages, notify the manufacturer in writing within a certain time window. How easy is it to work with the manufacturer to get it returned, resolved or the price discounted? Ask if the manufacturer provides shipping insurance or if you can purchase insurance to ensure a safe delivery. What is the manufacturer’s warranties and return policies? After Sales Service and Repair

Some manufacturers accept returns on any item sold within a 30 day period from time of receipt, and others charge a restocking fee. Some manufacturers allow orders to be cancelled within 72 hours of the original order for a full refund. Typically orders cancelled before the bed ships will be charged a restocking fee whilst orders cancelled after the bed ships will be charged a restocking fee and return shipping charges.
